Enterprise 2009 Long Mynd Tasks 1 to 5
FS Set up and requirements. The task is in the form of a "saved flight" that you download to your "Documents\Flight Simulator X Files" folder and can then "load saved flight" from within FSX or FS2004 and everything will be ready. Any of the tasks can be done at any time of the day, but please set the FS date to the date of the tasks set out below. Also set the weather conditions as detailed below in each task. Thermals may be generated using CumulusX or CCS2004 only. Weather engines such as AS6 are not permitted for generating the thermals. Any glider can be used for these tasks including motor gliders. The Caiset instrument on the glider is not necessary, but gps-nav.dat files are provided for gliders that have this instrument fitted. For FS9 users not using the Caiset instrument, you will need to save a recorded flight from Plan-G. In Plan-G, Click on "Options" via the top left yellow aircraft icon and in the "FS Display" tab click on "Log Trail" and the flight will be logged automatically providing that you click on "connect" to FS. The nature of these tasks means that you will need to set your own course using the Caiset instrument (if fitted to the glider) or a flight planner such as Plan-G using the task details set out below. Some of the Plan-G files in the task packages have been created merely to indicate where the turnpoints (TP's) are and are not intended as a course to fly. There are no Plan-G files for tasks 2 and 5, so you may wish to create your own. For gliders with the Caiset instrument, no tasks have been programmed into it, its up to you to select the next TP to go or to set your own tasks using a program such as FSZWeverview. Instructions to install Plan-G and GPS-NAV.dat files Caiset task set-up. (with no programmed tasks) On the GPS-NAV Instrument: - Click "On" to turn on the GPS-NAV
- Press the right hand arrow 3 times > > > until you get to "alphabet."
- Press the up "/\" or down "\/" arrows to scroll throught the TP’s.
- Enter “GO” to select that TP to fly to.
After the competition: For gliders with the Caiset instruments or using FSX save your flight as an IGC file and submit your IGC file to irogers@ukvga.org.uk For FS9 users without the Caiset instrument. Save the recorded flight from Plan-G by going to the ......\Plan-G\Trail folder. In this folder rename the trail.txt to reflect the task such as "Enterprise_2009_task_1_(your_name).txt" and submit the file as above.
